Very Happy to meet all of you guys today. Here is the demo from today that I touched up at home. Please go over the slides I have provided via email! I used the same concepts, starting from a very simple, graphic design, but instead of doing it in values, I focused on color. After I established my main idea, I then break things down one by one and add color variation to it (much like what Ed did in his demo with the big silhouette then breaking it down with different value shapes).
Remember, when you start with a simple idea, it is much easier to add things to it.. When you have too much on your image it maybe more difficult to edit things out since you spent a lot of time painting it out. lol. So try to get a strong statement right off the bat, and always remind yourself of what appealed to you the most about the scene, and focus on that! Hope this makes sense.
